Digital Skills Training

ACDA Skills Training is currently offering FREE Basic IT (Digital Skills) Training to local residents in Ealing and Hounslow.

 

These Digital Skills training sessions are ideal for anyone who is interested in improving their IT skills and want to become more confident with being online.

 

The sessions cover a number of topics including: setting up email accounts to send/ receive messages, searching and applying for jobs, using social media, accessing health information, online shopping, banking and how to be safe online.


Sessions are currently taking place at the following locations:

 

EALING:

Location: Acton Town Hall Library

Address: Everyone Active Acton Centre High Street Acton W3 6NE

Days: Every Monday

Times: From 1pm to 3pm

 

Location: The Lido Centre

Address: 63 Mattock Lane, West Ealing, W13 9LA.

Days: Every Tuesday

Times: From 10am to 12pm

 

Location: Northfields Community Library

Address: Northfield Avenue Ealing W5 4UA

Days: Every Tuesday

Times: From 12.30pm to 2.30pm

 

HOUNSLOW:

Location: Hounslow Library

Address: First Floor, Hounslow House, 7 Bath Road, Hounslow, TW3 3EB.

Days: Every Thursday

Times: From 1.00pm to 3.00pm

 

To join an IT session, individuals can simply drop-in during the times they take place to speak with the tutor and register to start straightaway or at another more convenient time.

 

We offer free remote digital skills assistance to anyone who needs help using either a computer, laptop, tablet device or smartphone from their own home including access to free basic or intermediate online courses and resources.

 

Online IT training sessions take place on Fridays from 12.30pm to 2.00 pm.

FREE English Language Classes for Hongkongers in Ealing, Harrow and Hounslow (West London)

ACDA is currently offering Free English Language classes for Hong Kong BN(O) status holders in the West London Boroughs of Ealing, Harrow and Hounslow.

 

These English Language sessions aim to welcome New Arrivals to the UK from Hong Kong through engaging in conversational English language practise, opportunities to find out about local facilities and services, cultural orientation and time to get to know people from the local area.  


It will be an enjoyable and social space for everyone involved with opportunities for mutual sharing of skills and knowledge and opportunities to make friends from the host community and for new arrivals and their families to not only improve their English language skills, but also to better integrate with their local communities.

Eligibility:

There are no formal eligibility requirements. These sessions are open to All - Everyone is welcome! 

 

Our aims are to bring the whole community together. We are, however, expecting to see a significant impact on new arrivals from Hong Kong in terms of well-being, connection, and practical aspects of transition into the UK.  
 

Unfortunately we do not have any childcare facilities available at any of the above locations.

Individuals interested in this programme can attend any or all of the above sessions. There is no need to pre-register, individuals can join a session at any time.

Potential participants can contact us directly for further information. Organisations can also refer to this programme by sharing contact details of interested individuals (with their consent) and we will get in touch with them.

Attached are posters (one in English and the other in Cantonese) with further details on the support on offer which you can share with your colleagues and the people you support.

ESOL Classes in Ealing

We also offer free Basic English classes for parents and carers of young children living in Ealing.

These classes are at ESOL pre-entry level which focuses on supporting adults with no or low levels of English to not only improve their English language skills, but also to better integrate with their local communities.

 

Topics covered during the classes include: communicating confidently with professionals: doctors, teachers, local council staff, emergency services, everyday life, shopping, using public transport etc.

These ESOL classes are currently taking place at the following location:

Days: Every Wednesday

Times: 9.10am to 11.10am

End Date: Wednesday 13th December 2023

We are also offering free virtual ESOL classes to those individuals who want to improve their English language skills, especially their confidence in speaking and listening.
